Ascendant basis: our Lagna follows a slightly different convention from Drik's, agreeing within about 0.3 degrees. A birth very close to a sign boundary can show a different rising sign. Planets and Panchang elements agree to under one arc-minute.
Dasha timing: our Vimshottari Dasha period boundaries agree with Drik's within a few days, not to the exact day. This comes from two documented sources: a tiny difference in the birth Moon's measured position that compounds across the full 120 year cycle, and a different classical year length the two engines use to lengthen each period (we use 365.25 days, Drik uses the sidereal year of about 365.256 days).

Vimshottari Dasha is Vedic astrology's most widely used timing framework, a repeating 120-year cycle of planetary periods that traditionally colours the stretch of years it runs through with that planet's own themes. This calculator finds which period, called a Mahadasha, you are currently running, along with the full timeline of periods across your life.
Your birth details are sent to VedicShala's astrology calculation provider, which computes your full Vimshottari Dasha sequence from your Moon's Nakshatra at birth. The system allots each of nine planets a fixed number of years within the repeating 120-year cycle, in a fixed order, and the starting point of your own sequence is set by how far your Moon had travelled through its birth Nakshatra. The calculator reports your current Mahadasha (the major period) and the current Antardasha (the sub-period running within it), and lists the full sequence of major periods across your life in an expandable timeline.
Because the Dasha sequence is anchored to your Moon's exact Nakshatra position, this is a time-sensitive calculation. If your exact birth time is not known, the result is still computed using a noon default for that day and marked as such, since the starting point of your sequence could shift with a different birth time.
If your Moon was roughly two-thirds of the way through its birth Nakshatra, your Vimshottari sequence begins partway through that Nakshatra's ruling planet's period rather than at its very start, and every later period follows in the fixed planetary order from there. Someone currently a few years into a Jupiter Mahadasha, for instance, would see "Jupiter" as their current major period, with a further sub-period, the Antardasha, also shown.
