Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how VedicShala collects, uses, and protects your personal data, and how you can exercise your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
What data we collect
Anonymous calculator and Panchang use: we compute your result and discard the birth details you entered; we do not store them unless you explicitly choose to save a chart to an account. Account holders: name, email, and any birth details you choose to save to your profile. Purchases: order and payment-confirmation details (payment card/UPI details are handled directly by our payment gateway, never stored by us). Consent and analytics: a first-party cookie and a server-side consent-log record of your cookie-banner and /privacy-preferences choices.
How we use your data
To perform the calculation you requested, to deliver a course or report you purchased, to operate your account and saved charts, and, only where you have granted analytics or marketing consent, to understand which tools people use and measure whether our own marketing is working. We never sell your personal data.
Your consent choices
You can grant or withdraw analytics and marketing consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, on our /privacy-preferences page. Essential functionality (like completing a purchase) does not depend on analytics or marketing consent.
Legal basis
We process your data based on your consent (for analytics/marketing), to perform our contract with you (for purchases and account features), and to comply with applicable law (for tax and payment records). Some of the practices on this page, such as the granular Accept/Reject/Customize consent choice, reflect our own privacy-first design decisions and current best practice, not necessarily a line-by-line statutory requirement.
Your rights and how to exercise them (DSAR)
You have the right to access, correct, or request erasure of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email support@vedicshala.com with the subject line "Data Request" and tell us what you'd like (access, correction, or erasure). To protect your data, we will first verify your identity by confirming details tied to your account or a saved request. We aim to acknowledge every request within 3 business days and resolve it within 30 days, and we keep an internal log of each request so nothing is lost in the process.
Grievance Officer
Our Grievance Officer, Ajay Damjibhai Ramani, can be reached at support@vedicshala.com for any privacy complaint or grievance under the DPDP Act. We will acknowledge your grievance and work to resolve it promptly.
Data breach notification
If a data breach affecting your personal data occurs, we follow an internal breach-response runbook: contain and assess the breach, notify the relevant regulatory authority as required by law, and notify affected users by email without undue delay, describing what happened and what we're doing about it.
Data retention
Anonymous calculator inputs are never retained. Account and purchase data is retained for as long as your account is active plus the period required by applicable tax and accounting law, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
Children's data
VedicShala is not directed at children. If a parent or guardian saves a minor's birth details to a family profile, that data is handled under the same protections as any other saved chart, with the parent/guardian responsible for the minor's account.
