Ascendant basis: our Lagna follows a slightly different convention from Drik's, agreeing within about 0.3 degrees. A birth very close to a sign boundary can show a different rising sign. Planets and Panchang elements agree to under one arc-minute.
Dasha timing: our Vimshottari Dasha period boundaries agree with Drik's within a few days, not to the exact day. This comes from two documented sources: a tiny difference in the birth Moon's measured position that compounds across the full 120 year cycle, and a different classical year length the two engines use to lengthen each period (we use 365.25 days, Drik uses the sidereal year of about 365.256 days).
Cross-check these values against Drik Panchang for the same date, time, and place.
Vedic astrology describes certain planet-and-house combinations as yogas, well-documented chart patterns traditionally associated with particular strengths or themes. This calculator checks your chart against a bounded, transparent set of six classical yogas and reports which of them, if any, appear.
This calculator sends your birth date, time, and place to VedicShala's astrology calculation provider, which returns your planetary longitudes and your Lagna (Ascendant) for that moment. Each planet's position is converted to a sign and a house counted from your Moon sign, and checked against six specific, unambiguous rules:
This is a deliberately bounded set of pure sign-and-house rules, chosen because each one can be checked unambiguously from planetary positions alone. It leaves out yogas that additionally require a sign-lordship table or a debilitation table, such as Raj Yoga, which this site does not yet build with the same tested rigor. A chart that shows none of these six is not being told it has "no yogas" in any complete sense; it simply has none from this specific, bounded set.
If your Moon sign is Gemini and Jupiter sits in Virgo at your birth moment, Virgo is the 4th sign counting from Gemini, one of the four kendra houses. Gajakesari Yoga fires for this chart. If Mars is also in Gemini itself, sharing the Moon's own sign, Chandra-Mangal Yoga fires as well, and the calculator would report both.
Enter your date, time, and place of birth into the form above. Your birth details are sent to our astrology calculation provider so it can compute your planetary positions for that moment; the provider discards those details afterward and we do not store them unless you choose to save the result to a free VedicShala account.
This tool checks exactly six classical yogas, not an exhaustive list. Many charts carry yogas outside this bounded set, including ones that require lordship or debilitation data this calculator does not yet use. A result of "no yogas from this bounded set" means only that, not that your chart lacks any traditionally significant pattern. Treat any yoga reported here as one traditional lens among many, not a complete personality or fate reading.
